Yeniseysk - is a town in Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia, located on the Yenisei River. Population:18,766 (2010 Census).

Yeniseysk was founded in 1619 as a stockaded town—the first town on the Yenisei River. It played an important role in Russian colonization of East Siberia in the 17th–18th centuries.
Yeniseysk jail (first Tunguska) was built in the summer of 1619 a detachment of Tobolsk Cossacks led by boyar son Peter Albychevym and strelets centurion Cherkasov Rukina. Since 1623 the governors were appointed directly from Moscow.
In 1676 received the status Yeniseysk regional city, it came under the jurisdiction of all the settlements and forts along the Yenisei River, as well as the entire east of the Yenisei Siberia, to the city Nerchinsk inclusive.
By the beginning of the XIX century in Yeniseisk was built nine stone churches.Yeniseisk has traditionally been a place of exile.
In the 30-50 years of XX century Eniseisk were exiled tens repressed.
